Firetrap have just released their new Spring/Summer 12 collection for women finding inspiration where the sun never sets. New femininity is introduced with easy pieces, including culotte playsuits, flowing jumpsuits and pretty summer dresses. Knitwear is similarly feminine, in oversized shapes and juicy shades.
A chambray story runs throughout the season from clean crisp dresses to weathered separates. Garments are richly embroidered and alive in colour and detail for a crafty feel, with swallows and florals being the stand-out motifs. Intricate cutwork on crisp cotton hints at broderie anglaise for a homespun effect.
Prints and graphics are, as always, at the heart of Firetrap’s collection. This season sees a vivid snake print on chiffon and silk, and washed-down checks and tie-dyed stripes to give a sun-bleached feel. The colour palette is grounded by cinnamon, tan and hunter green with accents of primrose, poppy and watermelon.
A full range of accessories has been designed to mirror and complement the collection. Natural fabrics and colonial influences prevail, with key pieces including cowhide bags, rope belts and ethnic beaded pouches. Safari hats and canvas bags complete the robust military look.
