Christian Louboutin first became interested in shoes when he saw a billboard that instructed women tourists not to scratch the wooden floor in front of the Museum of Oceanic Art. He then began to draw shoes with compressed buckles and with soles.
Having completed the design he began attending parties and dance halls in Paris, offering his shoes to the women, however nobody was interested. Louboutin eventually opened a shoe shop in Paris, and he offered free coffee to shoppers.
Louboutin knew there was still something missing to give his shoes the wow factor, and give them a recognisable identity. During a runway show one of his employees had red Chanel nail polish on, and he knew instantly that if he painted the sole of the shoe red it would complete the look. His signature look was born.
Louboutin shoes have been top of the A-list celebrities list on red carpet events, and his shoes have been worn by Angelina Jolie, Mariah Carey, Kylie Minogue, Christina Aguilera, Britney Spears, and Madonna.
